The quality of merchandise continued to improve, and prices were very competitive. I had customers that worked at Nordstrom buying our suits, because of the variety of sizes and the styles.
Yeah….lots of blame to go around on that one. It was several years after I left. I think someone at JOSB understood the stock market, had a sense there might be some issues at MW, and took advantage of it. Also, there was an activist holder of MW stock who was in the middle of it. It was a mess, and lots of good people got hurt. Very sad.
Great story...didn't know about the Moore's Canada acquisition or that MW operated outside the US until today....keep telling great stories Richie; these are great!

An excellent recounting about a great moment in MW history.
If only the José Banco Fiasco could’ve gone half as well as the acquisition of Moores, I might’ve still had some stock in the company.
Wrong Time. Wrong People. Wrong Decisions.
And another IPO is looming.

Was the Moore’s acquisition in the works before or after they opened their stores in Cleveland?
Huh ….best guess is no, but I don’t remember.
Maureen hired me! And Jayme. Loved them.
I remember that well. The sentence would have been hard to write to add you into the Maureen hire....:)
