Richie, While reading your seven "notes" (which were well written, concise, and entertaining), it reminded me of the day you invited me to meet your Marketing group to discuss the "Common Threads" project which was added to the Men's Wearhouse website as a separate section. Needless to say, the meeting did not occur after one of your Friday yoga/meditation sessions. I quickly learned that our Men's Wearhouse website was not a place for educating consumers about the secret sauce and values of our company's brand of stakeholder capitalism. Soon after, "Common Threads" was banished from the website and launched into oblivion, only to reappear in the books written during retirement by our company's two revered founders. It was a wonderful ride for our employees, and you and George earned and deserved our employees' respect and gratitude.
Ya, at one point, I thought the MW site would be less about sales and more about connection. But at the end of the day, I suppose it was all about sales (not unlike any other retail site)....
I can't wait for Marcia to tell you the story of my purchase and then hers. Prices went crazy, loved it so much. I think you are a marketing genius. You have a gift for writing. Can't wait for arrival of my book. My first book must have burned in the fire. Congratulations on all the stories. Can't wait until Wednesdays
There's been a veritable run on the books! I think there have been 3 sold! :) Appreciate the purchase....always great to hear from you, Madeline. I remember you and your family well. Sammys Chicken was the best!!
