December…Introspective Retrospective
The Crabbies, the Mudgies, and a few surprises.
Woo-hoo! There are five Wednesdays this month, so lucky you! This month includes my birthday (I’m not picky—chocolate will do), Christmas (ho boy), Hanukkah (once we all can agree on a spelling, I’m in!), and the end of the year (yum: resolutions).
A tight little package of events and reason for me to indulge myself (and you, my loyal reader) in a bit of soul-searching. As if I’m not soul-searching during the other 11 months. Whatevs.
No better place to start than by saying a giant THANKS to you for showing up each week. And thank you for reading, commenting, liking, and occasionally hitting “share.” Truly means a lot to me, and I hope that something I’ve written somewhere along the line has sparked some thinking on your part, as well.
I know I’m the only one getting “older,” but time is zipping by at a dizzying pace. Seems like just yesterday it was December 2024. And the day before that, I was dropping Jensen off at preschool, thinking to myself, “How do I slow all this down?” And I quickly realized that, of course, I couldn’t slow time down, and that being present—as aware as I could be in each moment—was the best I was going to be able to do. And I did, and it all still moved very quickly, as Jensen is now in her last year of college. Zowie.
So, the rest of December in Curmudg-land:
Later this month, I’ll talk about Christmases past and the Christmas Crabbies, provided I don’t succumb before I get a chance to write.
Then I’ll announce my first Annual Mudgies—those events and people that I found to be the most annoying in 2025. And as a change of pace, I’ll also write about the small joys—the events and people who moved me this past year.
And finally, at the end of the month, of course, we’ll all be making our New Year’s resolutions—except here. Humbug, I say. “I’m going to resolve to do or stop doing something starting at a set time and day, and in the meantime, I’ll continue doing whatever it is I’ve resolved to do/not do until then.” Maybe it’s me, but how about this: Why not resolve as of, like, now!?
But I digress. The last Cumudg of the year will be the most intro of spections, as I sit down, look in the mirror, and reflect on what I’ve done, spanning the gamut from good to good grief, to good riddance.
Stay tuned. It’ll be a fun month. And thanks, as always, for reading…
TL;DR: Five Wednesdays this month. You’re welcome. Or I’m sorry. Hard to tell.
If this one hit the spot, What If? will, too. Go ahead…click.

Good reminder to take year-end stock. December flies by so fast I often forget to reflect on the past year!
This is certainly not an event or a person but I nominate "Six Seven" for your Curmudg Churlies. It's not quirkily strange or amusing anymore . . . I'm over it. LOL
